- A USB flash drive or other secondary volume formatted as Mac OS Extended, with at least 14GB of available storage

Download macOS from Apple
- macOS computer (supported by Big Sur)
- Install macOS Big Sur.app (downloaded from Mac App Store or Developer's Portal)
- External USB Drive or Internal Drive formatted with GUID partitioning scheme (with minimum 16GB storage space available)
